I am so happy to see cooler weather.
I know, it's weird to have such a divisive take these days, but I'm going to stand by that.
A couple of years ago now, I started a new medication that caused an insane amount of sweating. Despite the fact that I stopped it, I've also gained some weight, and my body continues to sweat anytime I even think about moving. Oh, you just need to grab a glass for some water? Sweat, dripping from my forehead and down my back.
So the fact that I'm sitting in my living room in leggings and a hoodie and socks and a dog under a blanket next to me is thrilling.
The other thing that has me thinking about soup season is that I'm rewatching Somebody Feed Phil for the 508403484th time. I've talked about maybe going back to school for some kind of culinary or pastry arts to open my own bakery, and watching shows like this continue to fuel that dream. That said, I think the fact that I spend more time watching these shows than practicing is probably why I'll never own my own business, but the dream is there.
I think it's probably more realistic to start planning out some meals. I'm lucky enough to have a very picky husband who describes himself as having a "refined pallet," but it really just means that he prefers chicken fingers and white pasta and white bread to vegetables or whole wheat anything. Growing up, everyone had that one cousin who only ate buttered noodles and dinner rolls at holiday parties. If you can't remember who that cousin was in your family, it might have been you. In his family, it was my husband.
Why do I tell you this? Because the man doesn't like soup. He does not like soup. He doesn't like soup. Who did I marry?!?
On the plus side, it means that I can make any kind I want. On the other hand, I watch him eat ham and cheese for dinner 9 nights in a row while I continue to eat the same soup because I made too much. Maybe I'll also make some crusty bread to go with whatever soup I make.
Now I know that this is supposed to be a blog about me being unemployed and my job search, so I'd like to say that I have some clever closing tonight about "mixing the right ingredients" and "knowing which environment I'll flourish" in, but I also told you last night that I don't like poetry, so I'm not going to lie to you tonight about me having something clever.
So uh, yeah. Send me your favorite soup recipes.
