Day 74: Amendment
Now that all the important family members know this, I can post about it.
Below is what I was working on yesterday, and as I recall, was about to post, when my husband called me to let me know he was on his way to the hospital. I have decided to not re-read it or add to it because, as you can imagine, I am now in a very different state of mind than I was yesterday.
He owns his own small business doing handyman / construction / renovation type work, and one job yesterday didn't go as planned... to say the least. We were in the ER for about 4 hours last night while he was getting x-rayed, seen by an orthopedic surgeon (that was luckily unnecessary), and eventually wrapped up and sent home.
Many thanks to the homeowner who drove him to the hospital and stayed with him until I got there, friends and family that tried to keep me calm, and family who offered to help us get his car back when I had truly 0 details.
And now... my post from yesterday.

Day 73: The Job Market is Spooky
What did I dress up as this year? Myself. The job market seemed scary enough that I didn't really need to add to it.
Just kidding. This evening, I dressed up as Rosie the Riveter for trick-or-treating. So far, a little more than halfway into the hours set out by our city, we've had 2 kids. To be fair, the second kid was so cute that she got 2 Reese's, but still. Only 2 kids.
The longer I remain unemployed, the longer I emerge myself into the world of old ladies. I attended an open "sewing class" today where you bring your current project and the instructor helps you with it. Now, I have the mechanics of actually using a sewing machine mostly down, but the rest of the process largely eludes me. I'm lucky that my mom was an excellent sewist and seamstress, and I picked up and remembered some of the basics from just existing around her. As for being able to go from start to finish with a whole project? Well, the struggle is real.
I had most of a project already done today when I showed up, which is great because I lost the instructions somewhere along the line. I expected I'd be able to find them as a PDF in the age of the internet, but no luck. Instead, this instructor, an older woman with short purple hair and a black cat on her shirt for Halloween, was able to engineer what needed to happen from the pieces I had and what I'd already finished. She might have been a wizard, now that I think about it.
I might bring more pajama pants to her soon for help because I have some flannel that I could use to make my husband a pair. You would be forgiven for thinking that I figured it out once, so I'm sure I could do it again. You have more faith in me than I do, and I appreciate it, but this woman had so many thoughts about how to just... make the process smoother, that I'm probably going to go for help regardless.
I tried making him a pair out of Marvel fleece by just cutting a pattern out of a pair of pants he already has, and uh. That did not go as planned. I didn't leave space for elastic at the top, or a hem at the bottom, and I don't even know how to figure out pockets.
